The humanitarian mission to Syria changed Dahlia Shazwan’s way of thinking
KUALA LUMPUR: The second visit of activist and lawyer Dahlia Shazwan who joined the humanitarian aid mission to Syria last March changed her way of thinking when faced with problems.
Dahlia said, as soon as he arrived in the country, she admitted that he was touched to see the enthusiasm shown by the Syrian people who always smiled to welcome the group from Malaysia.
“If we go, we must imagine that they are sad, sulking all the time. But the truth is they always smile at us. Despite many shortcomings, they still want to entertain us. That’s one thing we have to learn. We see him sad, but he is not sad. So we are the ones who feel shy.
“If they can even in this situation look very cheerful, then what reason do we have to be sad? We also automatically change our character to be more friendly, to be cheerful… to be an expectation before leaving… when we arrive, it becomes something else.
“There are many more things we can learn in this life when we meet them,” said.
Speaking further, Dahlia hopes to be able to participate in humanitarian missions to help Muslims around the world who are facing difficulties.
“Before this, I also heard comments from people talking about why they don’t help the people in Malaysia since there are still people who are having a hard time here.
“I think if everyone thinks like this what is the situation of the Muslim brothers out there who do not get support and help.
“I don’t judge those who are not moved to help, I think this is all guidance from Allah SWT to move the heart to help.
“We just need to know, sometimes they don’t ask for donations, what’s more important is awareness. If we are touched by this issue, God willing the help for Muslims all over the world who are facing difficulties will continue,” she concluded.
