KUALA LUMPUR: The trial of the famous businessman Datuk SM Faisal SM Nasimuddin, who is alleged to have caused injury to his ex-wife, Emilia Hanafi, which was scheduled for today at the Magistrate’s Court here, has been postponed to Sept 8.

Magistrate Nadia Othman set Sept 8 to continue the trial after Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Aishah Ahmad Zakiuddin informed that the parties had agreed that a new date should be set.

“The dates agreed upon by the prosecution and defense are Sept 8, 12 and 14; Oct 14 and 26 and Nov 17 and 18,” said Nur Aishah.

Lawyer Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader who represents SM Faisal confirmed the matter.

When met by the media outside the court, Nur Aishah said the trial should continue with the first prosecution witness, the son of SM Faisal and Emilia, who is 15 years old, continuing his testimony today in proceedings conducted in private.

“However, today’s hearing was postponed due to the magistrate hearing this case dealing with an emergency,” said Nur Aishah.

SM Faisal, 43, was charged with intentionally causing injury to Emila, 43, who was his wife at the time of the incident at a house in Desa Sri Hartamas, Brickfields here between 12.30pm and 4.30pm on 22 Nov 2015.

The charge is under Section 323 of the Penal Code and can be punished under Section 326A of the same code which carries a maximum prison sentence of two years or a fine of up to RM2,000 or both, if convicted.
