The five main cast members of Friends pay tribute to Matthew Perry
FIVE leading stars of the hit 1990s television sitcom “Friends” have paid tribute to actor Matthew Perry in a joint message mourning their friend’s death and calling it an “unimaginable loss.”
In a brief statement published by People magazine , actors Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer spoke publicly for the first time since the news of Perry’s death last Saturday.
“We are all deeply saddened and devastated by the loss of Matthew. We are more than just a couple of actors. We are a family.
“There is much to say, but for now we will take some time to grieve and process this unexpected loss,” they said in the statement.
The five actors promised to comment more on Perry’s death when the time comes.
“At this time, our thoughts and love are with Matty’s family, his friends and everyone who loved him around the world,” they said.
The cause and cause of Perry’s death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office, after completion of an autopsy with toxicology tests.
Perry’s death comes a year after the publication of her memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing , which chronicled her decades-long struggle with addiction to prescription painkillers and alcohol.
Perry gained fame and notoriety for his role playing Chandler Bing in Friends as a sarcastic statistical analyst.
The sitcom ranked among the top 10 primetime television series for most episodes during its 10-year run on the NBC network from 1994 to 2004.
The series, which is still popular, stars Perry and the rest of the cast of Friends as a close-knit group of young people who share space and antics in each other’s apartments and hang out together at the Manhattan coffee shop Central Perk.
