The Dutch Crown Princess was told to be ‘locked up’ in the palace
MOSCOW: The Crown Princess of the Netherlands, Princess Catharina-Amalia had to be ‘locked up’ in the palace following the threat of kidnapping, according to the order of the King of the Netherlands, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima.
The 18-year-old princess moved to Amsterdam last September to continue her studies in political science, psychology, law and economics at a local university.
However, Princess Amalia was forced to leave her residence at the university and return to the Huis ten Bosch royal palace on the outskirts of The Hague, after receiving kidnapping threats over the past few weeks, Sputnik reported.
“She (Princess Amalia) cannot leave the palace. This will have a big impact on her life. She cannot stay in Amsterdam and she cannot go out,” the royal couple told reporters on Thursday, as quoted by the Dutch newspaper, NL Times.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima are currently in Sweden on an official visit, and could not hold back tears when talking about the difficulties their daughter is facing, reports NL Times.
But despite that, there are also other reports that say Princess Amalia is still continuing her studies at the university, which is more than 50 kilometers away from the palace.
