Driver of Indonesian sensation artist, the late Vanessa Angel, Tubagus Joddy appeared to apologize to the family of the deceased for being the cause of a road accident that claimed the life of his employer.
Joddy admitted to driving in a drowsy state that led to a road accident in November last year.
“I apologize to the family of the late Mrs. Vanessa and Auntie. I plead guilty.
“I was negligent, until there was an accident on the Jombang-Mojokerto toll road. I also apologize to Gala Sky. As a result of my negligence, he lost his parents,” said Joddy in a trembling voice.
Joddy informed that he had made an apology to Vanessa and Bibi’s family but it was not conveyed directly.
“Because I’m still in detention. So I can’t apologize directly,” he added.
The special press conference on Wednesday night was led by Chief Justice Bambang Setyawan online.
Recounting the story, Joddy said he admitted he was asleep when the accident occurred.
“My last realization was before the accident, Your Majesty, when I was still on a straight road. Then when I probably fell asleep immediately, when I opened my eyes, the car was facing backwards and the position was stopped.
“So I didn’t feel a crash. I didn’t feel a crash, I just heard a sound of pain.
“Before the incident, I was quite sleepy, Your Majesty, but I try to stay fit so as not to bother my boss, Your Majesty. When I am sleepy, I lower between 100 and 120 kilometers per hour, Your Majesty.
“I feel like a dream, how come the car suddenly stopped and suddenly there was a burning smell here. Then look to the left, why did the car break down and keep thinking where Gala and Vanessa were not in the car at that time,” he said.
Looking back, Vanessa and her husband, Febri Andriansyah died in a road accident at Tol Jombang, Kedungmulyo Town District on 4 November 2021.
During the incident, the vehicle driven by Joddy struck the road divider on the left to drift.
Joddy and the couple’s son, Gala Sky as well as their domestic helper, Siska Lorensa were only injured and survived. Joddy is alleged to be the cause of the crash.
