“The doctor said my life expectancy is only six months” – Roslan Aziz redha tested for cancer
KUALA LUMPUR: Roslan Aziz today is no longer the Roslan Aziz we all knew during the era of Malay music fame around the early 1990s.
At the age of 60, the individual who once sparked the homeland’s music revolution was tested for lymphoma or blood cancer.
In a very short period of time, the cancer had passed stage four – something that had never crossed would happen to her,
Originally, on November 1, 2021, the composer, music engineer and producer of the country’s famous album complained of severe stomach pain that forced him to see a doctor for treatment.
Seeing his lifeless condition, Roslan was recommended to undergo a thorough examination including blood tests and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations.
The follow-up treatment recommendations suggested by the doctor to some extent made a lot of question marks play in the box of his mind.
At the same time, Roslan is very positive and always reminds himself that he should accept whatever is possible with perseverance and calm.
“Of course, at first I was very sad when the doctor confirmed that I had cancer but I am very grateful that despite being diagnosed with cancer, my condition is not so bad.
“I am aware that the life I will go through is very short because the end of the cancer is death,” said Roslan sharing his story to Astro AWANI in a meeting at his residence in Kampung Datuk Keramat here, recently.
The Astro AWANI crew ‘s visit was to visit him after receiving the news that he was going through a difficult phase due to cancer.
Understanding our intentions, Roslan opened the door of his house to me along with his colleagues, Hafidah Samat, Madiha Abdullah as well as cameraman Airul to give us a chance to underlie the test he was going through.
Prior to this, many of Roslan’s acquaintances among industry activists also visited and gave support to him.
Among them are actress, producer and director Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina, actress Ida Nerina, event manager, Dharanee as well as fellow musicians who have worked with Roslan.
The presence of friends and acquaintances said Roslan, was greatly appreciated for reminding himself that he is still valued and loved.
“I lose the pain when friends come to my house for my pilgrimage and chat. I really appreciate their presence,” Roslan expressed his appreciation for those who were present to give him moral support.
Unlike people who are sick let alone stage four cancer, Roslan is very cheerful, friendly to tell stories and occasionally jokes.
Apparently, the Roslan Aziz Production (RAP) label promoter, who used to patronize the ranks of Grade A artists such as Datuk Sheila Majid and Datuk Zainal Abidin and others in the early 1990s, does not seem to be ‘fighting’ with cancer.
In reality, he had to endure the pain and had to go through a really challenging treatment process including a handful of medicine that had to be taken every day in addition to chemotherapy treatment which was not easy to go through.
He has also been in and out of the hospital for a series of treatments.
Yet, despite the difficulties, Roslan admired the greatness of God presenting great wisdom.
“I am grateful because I have good family and friends, who really care about me
“Cancer also made me realize that in this world, we cannot be alone… family and friends are very important.
“I am very grateful because all of them, including my 83 -year -old father, are still there and we live in the same house… this is the wisdom that I did not realize was in front of my eyes,” said Roslan.
In fact, Roslan during the conversation also told a happy story about the four bright eyes, Wan Nur Khaleda, Megat Abdul Majid Aziz, Megat Ali Aziz and Megat Zayn Hamza Aziz.
“They are a complement to my life and happiness,” he said.
Without hiding, Roslan is also open to talk about death which he admits is getting closer to each and every one of us.
What’s more, the news of the death of one art activist after another that reached the ears caused Roslan to be ready to be invited home by the Almighty.
“I was told by the doctor that there is only up to six months to live. If made around June this year my life is over.
“All my life, what I want is all I have gone through and done.
“I knew I was going to die, so I had to prepare. There is nothing to cry about anymore, only I will never see my wife again, as well as the children, ”said Roslan while looking at the face of his wife, Sopphilea Hamid who faithfully accompanied him throughout the interview.
In the interview, Roslan did not shy away from expressing his gratitude openly to the woman for faithfully accompanying him during the time he was tested with pain.
Roslan said, Sopphilea has sacrificed too much for him, especially in difficult times like this.
“I don’t know what will happen to me if Sopphilea is not there. We are not just husband and wife, in fact, we are also best friends.
“She is the only closest friend in my life. We have never been apart since we got married 23. Thank you to Sopphilea,” said Roslan.
Sopphile who calmly listened to her husband’s side was seen unable to hide the tears while wiping away the tears.
