The 2023 Golden Melody Festival ends successfully, marking the resumption of international face-to-face activities after the pandemic
TAIPEI , July 8, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — The 2023 Golden Melody Festival has just ended successfully. This year not only marks the 10th anniversary of the festival, but also the first time that face-to-face activities have resumed in Taiwan and overseas since the pandemic. Culture Minister Shih Che, underlined the remarkable development of the Golden Melody Festival during his speech. With 62 exhibitors when it was created, this edition welcomed a total of 450 national and international exhibitors, including 83 international exhibitors, a record number. The focus of the festival goes beyond exceptional programs; it also serves as a platform to showcase Taiwan’s musical prowess and determination to forge international ties in the music industry.
The Golden Melody Festival 2023, with a series of Business to Business events including keynotes, SHOWCASE concert, Biz Matching Center and Speed Meetings, was held from June 28-30.
This year, the speeches were delivered by 11 industry heavyweights from Taiwan and abroad. Jen Malone, a three-time Emmy-nominated music supervisor who has worked on several hit TV soundtracks, spoke about the extent of international music supervision. Grammy-winning artists James Fauntleroy and Larrance “Rance” Dopson shared their views on fan engagement and songwriting advice. Jaeson Ma , co-founder of 88rising, and Kossy NG, director of Asian music at Spotify, focused on developing the Asian music market. Also, renowned concert producer Isaac Chenexplored the differences between concert management in Taiwan and overseas.
The Golden Melody Festival promotes Taiwanese music and encourages international exchanges. Over the past few years, he has established a GMA Partnership Program with overseas music festivals, strengthening collaboration and creating more opportunities for outstanding local bands and artists to showcase their talents on the world stage. Besides, the excellent lineup of the “SHOWCASE Concert” featured nine national singers and bands, including Karencici, The Dinosaur’s Skin, L8ching, I Mean Us, Jerry Li /CLOUDRIVER, Outlet Drift, Paige Su, Kasiwa, and Iruka Police , as well as as well as international guest artists through GMA partnerships, including Filipino band Flu, Singaporean band motifs and Japanese idol group PERSES.
