
The 2022 Musical Aspirations Concert continues to be a platform for MRSM students to develop their talents
SHAH ALAM: The Musical Aspirations Concert 2022 organized by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) continues to be the main platform for Mara Science Junior College (MRSM) students to develop their talents in the field of arts.
The Deputy Director (Social Sciences) at MARA’s Secondary Education Division, Dr Zulkifli Hussain said the concert was a medium to polish students’ talents as well as ensure they excel not only academically but in other aspects such as the arts.
He said the fourth edition of the concert involved 120 MRSM students who are active in the field of talent development, especially music, dance and voice art from all over the country.
“We want these students to excel and be balanced in both academic and artistic aspects, we want to produce them who are talented as a whole.
“This kind of program is also seen to relieve some of their pressure (when studying) in addition to giving students the opportunity to excel in the field they are interested in,” he said when met by reporters after the concert at the Performing Arts Theatre, Management and Science University (MSU) here last night. earlier.
He said, the organization of the two-day concert that ended last night was themed 80’s Musical Expo X Tribute to Mamat Khalid which was seen to be able to challenge the students’ creativity in producing a creative performance.
He said the organization of the concert this time also raised the works of the famous film director, the late Mohamad Mohamad Khalid, known as Mamat Khalid, who revived the era of rock music according to his own instructions and patterns in the field of film.
“His works are actually close to the current generation such as the movie Rock and Hantu Kak Limah. The message in his movies is very loaded but the way of delivery is very relaxed to educate the community,” he said.
According to him, the students are also looking for variety by singing 80’s rock songs using traditional instruments such as Caklempong.
The concert involved nine MRSMs namely MRSM Felda Trolak, MRSM Taiping and MRSM Lenggong, Perak; MRSM Mukah, Sarawak; MRSM Kuala Klawang, Negeri Sembilan; MRSM Langkawi, Kedah MRSM Balik Pulau, Penang; MRSM Tun Dr Ismail, Johor and MRSM Tun Muhammad Fuad Stephen, Sabah.
Meanwhile, MRSM student Lenggong, Perak, Syakir Aiman Azzemey, 16, said such a program should continue because it can develop the talents and interests of MRSM students in particular.
“Even though I only practiced for a short period of one month, it didn’t interfere with my study time, and I really enjoyed being involved in this kind of concert.
“I made a schedule to divide the time to practice and study, I set aside two to three hours a day to practice,” he said.
The Musical Aspirations Concert also got cooperation from MARA Malaysia Education Consensus Agency, Enjit-Enjit Semut Motion Pictures, Sarang Art Hub, MSU and Ansara Malaysia.
