The 2021 ERA Meletop Award is postponed
KUALA LUMPUR: Due to the increase in the number of daily COVID-19 cases, Astro has decided to postpone the ERA 2021 Meletop Awards (AME2021) which was supposed to be held tomorrow (January 30) to a new date to be announced later.
The country’s first satellite television station made the weighty decision after thinking about the safety and well-being aspects of each of those involved in any Astro production.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, Astro informed that, in any situation, compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP) and guidelines set by the authorities is always a priority for the station.
In fact, Astro is also constantly taking proactive steps to conduct comprehensive pre-health screening and COVID-19 screening tests on all involved prior to the commencement of any published program.
“Therefore, we would like to apologize to all those involved, especially the artists, sponsors, business partners, spectators, especially voters and production crews for this unexpected incident and beyond our control.
“Once again, we would like to emphasize here that this decision has been taken because the safety of those involved has always been our priority,” Astro said in the statement.
The statement also informed that, before the event, based on pre -screening health screening on all who will participate in the production of AME2021, a number of individuals have been identified to be exempted, including those who must undergo a self -quarantine process within the time set by the Ministry of Health Malaysia ( KKM).
“Even though they were detected earlier and not allowed to enter the AME2021 recording location, we still take more precautionary measures, and do not want to take any risk regarding the safety of any party as the daily statistics are increasing,” said Astro. monitor the current situation and any further developments will be informed later.
