Thailand’s Election Commission is partnering with TikTok to tackle fake news
BANGKOK: The Election Commission of Thailand has partnered with TikTok to spread accurate information about the upcoming 2023 general election.
The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported that an election center will be created on TikTok to handle all misinformation on the platform during elections and campaigns for each political party.
According to TikTok owner ByteDance there are 40.3 million adult TikTok users in Thailand.
However, TikTok is banned in most countries.
In the United States, the White House gave all federal agencies 30 days to delete TikTok from all government devices.
On February 27, Canada announced a ban on the use of TikTok from all government mobile devices, according to VNA.
Last week the executive branch of the European Union also temporarily banned workers from using TikTok as a cyber security measure.
