Telecommunications companies are asked to review service fees, help the people – Fahmi Fadzil

KUALA LUMPUR: Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Fahmi Fadzil urged telecommunications companies to consider revising the service fees charged to users.

He said, currently the economic situation is very challenging and telecommunications companies should look at their social responsibility to ease the burden of the people, especially those who are less fortunate.

Today’s telecommunications is no longer a wish but a need for all levels of society, regardless of the poor or the rich.

“For me, it doesn’t matter whether it’s 4G to 5G or later there will be 6G and so on, the most important thing is what we can do to make people’s lives easier.

“For example, there is a father who lives in PPR (People’s Housing Program), there is a wife and several children who each have to use their phones to study online.

“If the cost of even one ‘line’ is so high, let alone he has to bear many ‘lines’ like this,” he said in the Agenda AWANI program on Thursday.

So he hopes that something can be done by telecommunications companies in the country in the near future.

Regarding the 5G service, Fahmi informed that the Prime Minister has ordered that the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Communications and Digital discuss to see what needs to be done so that the implementation can be accelerated and run smoothly.
