Team Haq made a surprise appearance as the new MPL champion
KUALA LUMPUR: The Team Haq e-sports squad created a sensation when they managed to emerge as champions in their debut in the MY Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) Season 10 Grand Final by surprising defending champions Todak 4-2 yesterday.
The championship won by the squad in the tournament lasting more than two months, is even more meaningful when it qualifies them to compete in the Mobile Legends Bang Bang M4 World Championship (M4) scheduled to take place in Jakarta, Indonesia next year.
Yesterday’s match saw Team Haq show their prowess in the first and second rounds when they managed to lead the Todak Squad.
The situation, however, did not break Todak’s desire to defend the title when the squads involved equalized in the third and fourth rounds.
Hasrat Todak was then erased by Team Haq who came back to beat them in the last two rounds before confirming their championship.
The founder of Team Haq Muhammad Aimanulhaq Zaharudin said he did not expect the victory since this was the first time his squad participated in the MPL.
“Because we are a (new) rookie team, so we did participate in this match to find experience, after all, Todak is a reliable team, so I didn’t expect to win this game.
“But this victory is the result of the players’ experience, so now we have exceeded our target and have many more experiences that we want to find on the world stage later,” he said.
Team Haq yesterday was lined up with five players namely Muhammad Syafizan, Aiman Zairie Anuar, Poh Chun Wai, Aimin Zairie Anuar and Mohamad Nilzaihan while the Todak Squad was lined up with Idreen Abdul Jamal, Wan Usman, Zikry Shamsuddin Muhammad Danial Mohamad Fuad and Muhammad Qayyum Ariffin.
