Taylor Swift ticket purchase issue, the state attorney intervened
The problem that arose in the sale of Taylor Swift concert tickets by Ticketmaster also attracted the attention of several state attorneys in the United States.
After thousands of fans shared their anger at failing to buy tickets, prominent attorneys in Nevada, Tennessee and Pennsylvania are among those who have launched investigations into the incident.
Pennsylvania State Attorney Josh Shapiro, who recently won the race for Governor of Pennsylvania, said his firm had received a complaint to immediately investigate the incident.
In Tennessee, Attorney Jonathan Skrmetti said he wants to make sure fans have an equal opportunity to buy tickets.
“There are no allegations at this time of any wrongdoing, but as attorney general it is my job to make sure that the law protects consumers,” Skrmetti told reporters.
Meanwhile, in Nevada, the attorney general’s office said it was investigating Ticketmaster for alleged deceptive or unfair trade practices.
The frenzy began when registered fans who were given a code for the pre-sale on Tuesday tried to get tickets for Swift’s tour, The Eras, next year.
But many complained that their purchases were delayed in addition to receiving error messages. Ticketmaster said bot problems and excessive demand were to blame.
Swift expressed her frustration in a lengthy statement, saying she felt cheated when Ticketmaster had previously claimed to be able to handle high demand.
“It’s very hard for me to trust an outside entity, and I’m disappointed to see mistakes go uncorrected,” Swift said.
Ticketmaster said more than two million tickets were sold despite the problems, and only 15 percent of potential buyers had problems with the purchase process.
