Taiwanese singer faked death because he refused to make a ‘comeback’

A good friend and agent of the Taiwanese singer, Liu Wen Zheng, yesterday retracted the statement confirming that the singer had died.

On Wednesday, Hsia Yu-shun announced Liu had died in November last year due to a heart attack.

Hsia told Taiwanese entertainment portal ETtoday that Liu, 70, asked her to do so.

“He’s still alive. However, he doesn’t want to meet people, so he asked me to release the news of his death to avoid the constant requests of fans who want him to make a comeback,” Hsia said.

Hsia added that Liu had been given several good offers from China, including an offer of NT$2 billion (RM297 million) to do a tour tour.

He also confirmed that although Liu suffered a heart attack last year, he has recovered and is now living in Las Vegas.

But some local media reported that Liu is now in the Philippines, according to his aunt’s statement.

Among the most popular singers in Taiwan, Hong Kong and China in the 70s and 80s, Liu is known for his classic hits like The Promise, Late and The Drizzle in March.

He retired from entertainment in 1991.
