SUPER SUNDAY – MALAYSIA’S PREMIERE HOMEGROWN STREETWEAR BRAND TOOK KLFW 2022 SUNDAY SLOT BY STORM WITH ITS SUPER SLEEK COLLECTION CALLED ‘SUNDAY BOIS’

KUALA LUMPUR, 22 August 2022 – It is a known fact that Super Sunday knows how to put on a show and for their sixth outing at Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week this year, the brand has once again left its audience transfixed with its dazzling mixture and display of fashion, music and other popular street culture, namely skateboarding and graffiti.

The homegrown brand has proven itself to be much more than its eye-catching and highly coveted logo that has gone through several volutions while still mainting its core design DNA. Super Sunday logo has become one of the most instantly recognisable and highly coveted logos in the Malaysian, perhaps regional streetwear world. The brand’s iconic logo has made its way onto everything from tees to sliders, fanny packs, snapbacks and bucket hands; and other premium products such as varsity jackets and duffel bags.

With the label winning over the likes of the country’s notable modern generation rock star such as Noh Salleh, it is a natural progression for Super Sunday to collaborate with Noh’s lifestyle brand called Hikari Riders. Other than Hikari, Sunday Bois also features Daddyhood (an Esport brand), VANS Malaysia and SSST or Super Sentimental Secret Theory (a tech wear brand from Bandung
Indonesia).

“What Malaysia has just witnessed is probably our best and biggest show so far.

Featuring Thirty (30) looks that are heavily curated; and especially designed and produced for the purpose of this show we refer to as Sunday Bois. It took us about six months from ideation, planning all the way to the design and production of samples. Through our struggles and successes, our ups and downs, we are extremely grateful for the support that came in the form of our family, fans, friends, clients, collaborators, the media and other stakeholders. I believe that Super Sunday has given streetwear a voice and a clear point of view – proving that the brand is beyond hype,” said Zulkifli Salleh aka Bob aka Mr Kioue, the founder and creative director of Super Sunday.

“For Sunday Bois, the collection still maintains its house codes and creative polymath. However, it feels elevated and boosted in various ways. While its core skate roots and unmistakably innovative take on the hooded sweat shirts will no doubt ensure it retains a strong following among the cool set, this collection seems to go parallel with the brand’s growth, not just in aesthetics but in
business. “We have grown significantly post pandemic with the opening of new stores around Malaysia. While we are keeping one foot firmly planted on home turf, Kuala Lumpur, we are definitely exploring other places that we can take Super Sunday to. The collaboration with Hikari, Daddyhood, VANS and SSST – brands that has created big impact regionally, is important, both creatively and as a strategic business proposition.”

This year at KLFW 2022, the presentation was amped up by a fiery performance from local hip hop group, City Bois who entertained guests with their high- energy showmanship before the second part of the collection continued to knock it out of the park. Powered by ISUZU D-Max X-Terrain, and attended by some of the biggest names in the music, fashion and arts world such as Datuk Bernard Chandran, Monoloque, Jiman Casablancas, Haniff Hamzah (who also walked the show), Kuku Besi, Kim Samuel – a Korean pop star, Fritilldea, Ridduan TTFGA Ismail, Tisya Ong, Vivienna Q. Alfred, Nakalness of the Forceparkbois, Bryan Chin of Sneakerlah, and Hanis Ajar – an up and coming Tik Tok star, Super Sunday has indeed carved a name for itself as a force to be reckoned with. Beyond graphic tees and celebrity endorsements, Super Sunday has forged an identity that’s true to their inner city kids roots, while offering both fashion and streetwear worlds a super crisp and super fresh take on streetwear gear.
