Stage collapse: Five dead, dozens injured in bull fight
BOGOTA: At least five people were killed and dozens more injured when the main stage collapsed during a corraleja, or bullfighting party taking place in Tolima Colombia on Sunday, according to local authorities.
A bull also attacked several victims who fell into the ring at the Gilberto Charry Bullring, according to officials.
A number of children were also reported missing as a result of the riots that erupted following the incident, Xinhua reported .
Most of those injured have been treated at nearby San Rafael Hospital.
“We will ask for an investigation into the incident. (We hope) the injured victims recover quickly and express our condolences to the families of the victims,” Colombian President Ivan Duque said on Twitter.
President -elect Gustavo Petro urged the Colombian mayor not to allow any event that could cause the death of animals, including bullfighting.
