Spectators are out of control, Kelantan will not ban concerts – Mohd Amar
KOTA BHARU: Some of the audience at the Riuh Concert were upset by not being able to control their feelings because following the rhythm of the song was an act beyond the control of the Kelantan state government.
His Deputy Menteri Besar, Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said, what happened at the concert disappointed the state government, what else happened in Kelantan.
At the same time, he said, the Kelantan government does not intend to ban concerts in the state, which is also known as Mecca’s Serambi, on the contrary, stricter guidelines will be imposed.
Among the rules that are being imposed, said Mohd Amar, is the segregation of male and female spectators in addition to polite performances and no promiscuity.
“If this thing is followed, it has fulfilled the government’s wishes, but the reaction of the audience is something that needs to be paid attention to. And I think this is something that the organizers need to pay attention to.
“It means that throughout the course of the program, the organizer through the spokesperson of the event or anyone else can warn the audience to behave,” said Mohd Amar when met at his office on Wednesday.
He, who is also the Vice President of PAS, said this after being asked to comment on several videos that saw the audience of Riuh Concerts last Saturday and Sunday night dancing and swaying to the rhythm of the music.
The video of the audience being out of control was shown to him before being asked to comment on the matter.
Among the artists who gave a concert at the fourth edition of the Sokmo Riot Program, the Malaysian Family Riot Tour to Kelantan were the group Wings, Azumi Penthemik, Faizal Tahir and others.
The concert was held at the Ketereh District Council’s mini stadium and took place from 16 to 18 September last.
In the future, Mohd Amar said, the local authorities also need to ensure that each performance concept or songs are chosen more carefully.
“If the song is wrong, a rock song for example, it’s true that he is a singer and the audience will be like terkinja. But if the song is a normal song, it might not be terkinja,” he said.
Mohd Amar said that the action of the audience during the last day was considered a mistake and requested that it be corrected in the future.
In this regard, the Kelantan government, Mohd Amar stressed, will review the conditions for permission to hold concerts and performances in the state, including the selection of songs to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.
