Festival Director, Art of Speed Malaysia & SoundCircus, Asep Ahmad Iskandar said this year’s event, apart from taking place in the old cinema building REXKL, in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, it will also be a stand-alone event without the annual AOSM event, which usually takes place at MAEPS, Serdang.
“Beginning in 2017, SoundCircus was a small ‘gig’ that aimed to provide a special ‘platform’ for mainstream and especially underground music activists to present their work.
“In 2019, due to the favourable response, the location was changed to outside the main hall of the AOSM event to accommodate the increase in the number of visitors to 5,000 people.
Asep also described the selection of RexKL as the right location for the organisation of the ‘SoundCircus Weekender’ music festival, not to mention that it is held over two days (March 4 and 5) at the weekend.
”The selection of the bands is based on the collective voice of the community, which was shortlisted by those who are sensitive to current music developments,” he added.
Asep expects the visitors who will be attending to consist of fans of indie music and hip-hop aged between 18 and 40 years old.
He also said that a ‘Battle of The Bands’ will also be held in the afternoon, which will be attended by 10 new music bands in the genres of indie, rock and reggae, with a total of more than 30 artists and bands to entertain visitors..
For those interested in attending the SoundCircus Weekender, 2-day tickets as low as RM158 are still on sale. Check out https://scf.artofspeedmy.com/ to purchase.
