Singer Chitra will appear with her first solo concert in Malaysia tomorrow
KUALA LUMPUR: Popular Indian singer, KS Chitra, who has recorded more than 25,000 songs in various languages, will hold her first solo concert in Malaysia on Saturday night.
Besides Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Bengali, Oriya, Punjabi, Gujarati, Tulu, Rajasthani, Urdu, Sanskrit and Badaga, the 60-year-old singer has also recorded songs in Latin, Arabic, Sinhalese, English and French .
Chitra’s fans will surely be able to release their ‘giant’ for the rhythm genre of the song that the Queen of Melody will sing on the Zepp Kuala Lumpur stage at approximately 8pm, tomorrow.
Throughout her career of more than 40 years, the golden-voiced singer known as ‘chinna kuyil’ in South India has held several concerts in Malaysia, but according to him, this is his first solo performance organized by Mojo Projects Sdn Bhd.
“In terms of vocal training and training sessions with the line-up of musicians, so far I think it’s going well and everyone has given the best commitment to make this concert a success,” he said at a press conference on Friday.
The Kerala native has won three National Film Awards with her first in 1986 for the song Naan Oru Sindhu Kavadi Sindhu as Best Female Singer.
Chitra has also received various awards and India’s highest honors, including Padma Bhushan (2021) and Padma Shri (2005).
From the late 70s to the millennium era, Chitra went through the best phase of her career with some of her biggest hits.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of Mojo Projects, Ratna K Nadarajan said, apart from the Chitra concert, four more concerts will be staged this year.
He said, Mojo Projects is offering a Super Fan Pass at a price of RM1,388 for the five concerts that will be presented.
“With this special pass, fans have access to various benefits including all-access seats, exclusive gift packs and most interestingly, meet and greet sessions with the artist line-up,” he explained.
In his opinion, most of his concerts are done on a small scale because it can strengthen the relationship between the artist and the fans.
The second concert, he said, is themed Retro Rahman 3.0 which will see performances from legendary singers such as Srinivas, Haricharan, Sharanya Srinivas, Rashita Suresh and Groove Culture Band.
The third concert was followed by Mojo Live Jam featuring Masala Coffee and Staccato. Meanwhile, the fourth concert was held as a tribute to SP Balasubramaniam featuring his son.
The last and fifth involves the Malaysian Independent Live Fusion Festival (MILFF) which is a highly anticipated concert.
