
Sharnaaz Ahmad presented a representation of the alleged injury to the security guard
KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Sharnaaz Ahmad has submitted a representation to drop the charge of injuring a security guard at a condominium, last year.
Deputy Public Prosecutor (TPR) Nadia Eleena Jamaluddin Akbal informed Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed @ Mohamad Saim that the representation was filed by the defense last Tuesday (May 2).
Meanwhile, lawyer Datuk Abu Bakar Isa Ramat who represents Sharnaaz or his real name is Sharnaaz Ahmad Bazir Ahmad, 38, said his side apologized to the court for only filing the representation on May 2 as there were several documents that needed to be completed.
“Our side apologizes to the court and does not want the court to think that the defense delayed the filing of the representation.
“We request that a date be set early this July to find out the results of the representation as the prosecution needs time to examine the representation,” he said when the case was mentioned today.
Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed then set July 10 to find out the results of the representation.
The actor of the drama series ‘Bukan Kerana Aku Tak Cinta’ was charged with intentionally causing injury to Izzul Islam Awang, 27, in the elevator area, the entrance of a block in a condominium in Jalan Dutamas here at 8.30pm, 16 June 2022.
Sharnaaz is charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code which provides for a prison sentence of up to one year or a maximum fine of RM2,000 or both, if convicted.
When met by the media, after the proceedings, Abu Bakar said the representation had been sent to the Attorney General’s Department (AGC) on May 2.
Meanwhile, Sharnaaz said his party will try to resolve the case as best as possible and if there is no resolution, he is ready for a trial.
