Shakira’s new song teases Pique breaking YouTube, Spotify records
International media reported that Pique was already in a relationship with his new girlfriend before breaking up with Shakira.
Shakira’s latest SONG about her former partner, footballer Gerard Pique, has broken YouTube records.
The song’s music video, titled “BZRP Music Sessions #53,” garnered over 63 million views in 24 hours, making it the most viewed Latin song in that time period.
After three days, its views have reached over 107 million.
So far, it’s also the most streamed Latin song on Spotify in one day for 2023, breaking the streaming records for Spanish and Colombian songs.
The four-minute pop song is Shakira’s first collaboration with Argentinian producer and DJ, Bizarrap.
Shakira, 45, separated from Pique, 35, who is also a Barcelona star, in 2022 after more than 10 years together.
The couple also have two children, Milan and Sasha.
Although they did not give a reason why they broke up, international media reported that Pique often cheated, and even had a long relationship with his latest girlfriend, Clara Chia, since before his relationship with Shakira ended.
Through the Spanish-language lyrics of the song, Shakira is said to be mocking Pique’s 23-year-old girlfriend.
Shakira compared the relationship to swapping “Ferrari for [Renault] Twingo” and “Rolex for Casio”.
Pique has not yet reacted to the song.
