Shah Alam Stadium cost details will be made at the end of February or March
SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari will detail the cost of redeveloping the Shah Alam Stadium after the exhibition and public engagement session related to the stadium is over.
He said that the details will be made after the engagement session is over, which is either at the end of this month or early March.
“I have an expert (in determining) the estimate, if we look at the stadium alone, it is around RM700 million to RM800 million, but if we look at the whole it will probably be more because we will have parks, tourism areas, recreation, and so on and we will also build a hotel .
“If we compare stadium to stadium, I’m sure it’s more than RM700 million and less than RM1 billion,” he said.
He said this to the media to comment on the statement of the Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) team owner, Tunku Mahkota Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who described the cost of RM700 million for the reconstruction of the Shah Alam Stadium as illogical.
Earlier, he launched the Kita Ke Kampung #produkkampung4u program at the Selangor State Government Secretary’s Office (SUK), Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Building, here, today.
Amirudin said that his party will also announce the land that will be exchanged between the state government and the developer company, Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB).
“The initial plan was to change the unused land in the stadium area, but now our plan has changed a little because we will develop the entire stadium area. MRCB will develop this area at their cost first until it is ready, then we will replace it with a commensurate cost,” he said.
Meanwhile, commenting on the Kita Ke Kampung program, he said, the program under the Rural Development Standing Committee is an effort to introduce products produced by villagers in Selangor involving 4,000 rural entrepreneurs in the state.
“Within four to five years of this program running, we will do a study to see the positive effects. I believe that with the addition of marketing and so on, they can increase a minimum of 20 percent of their product production,” he said.
