Sexual communication: Safiey Ilias case transferred to Ampang Court, mentioned again Oct 27

KUALA LUMPUR: The Sessions Court here today fixed 27 October for the mention of the case of cosmetics entrepreneur Safiey Ilias who was charged with two charges including committing non-physical sexual assault on a teenage boy through the Instagram application.

Judge Wan Mohd Norisham Wan Yaakob made the decision after Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurhashimah Hashim requested the next mention date for the submission of documents related to the case.

Earlier, Nurhashimah informed that Safiey Ilias, or real name Mohd Safiuddin Ilias, 28, was charged in the Putrajaya Sessions Court last March but the case was transferred to the Ampang Court and today is the first mention in the Ampang Court.

The ‘Syinta Gila’ singer, represented by lawyer Harjeet Singh Sidhu, pleaded not guilty to the charge of sexually communicating with the victim through his Instagram application at his residence in Bandar Baru Bangi at 9 am on 9 June 2021.

He also pleaded not guilty to the charge of non-physical sexual assault by shaking his breasts in front of the victim at the same location, time and date.

Safiey Ilias was charged in accordance with Section 11(1)(a) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017 which carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison and Section 15 (a)(i) which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison or a fine of RM20,000 or both, if convicted.

The media previously reported that the police received a report regarding two account owners known as ‘safieyillias94’ and ‘pipinatasha’ who were wearing flashy clothes while having a live video conference session with their friends on Instagram accompanied by two minors.
