Several fast food restaurants are interested in introducing the Menu Rahmah
KANGAR: Several fast food restaurants have expressed interest in participating in the initiative that offers the Rahmah Menu to ease the burden of the people, especially the B40 group in this country.
Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said that after two weeks of the program being launched, the response received was so encouraging that it attracted the interest of several giant companies to get involved.
“This is good news for Malaysians when fast food restaurants have expressed interest in introducing the Rahmah Menu after Burger King previously offered a RM5 meal,” he told reporters after launching the Perlis State Level Rahmah Menu at BEKWOH Restaurant here today. .
Also present were Secretary General of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Living Costs (KPDN) Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof, Perlis State Government Secretary (SUK) Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad and Perlis KPDN Director Norazah Jaapar.
Salahuddin said several large international fast food restaurant companies will give their final say on the initiative next week.
“They plan to introduce burgers as Menu Rahmah because it is easier for customers, especially for the young,” he said.
Burger King became the first fast food restaurant to respond to the government’s initiative in providing food menus at moderate prices through the implementation of the Rahmah Menu program by offering chicken or meat burgers, along with vegetables and a bottle of mineral water.
In addition to the food sector, Salahuddin said several industry players including textiles and medicine also expressed interest in participating in the Rahmah concept program.
“There are industry parties who are interested in introducing ‘Shopping Rahmah Raya’ to help the people prepare for Aidilfitri and this matter will be discussed further to identify what the industry operators can offer later,” he said.
He said there are several private clinic operators who have expressed interest in introducing Rahmah concepts such as health screening tests at a price as low as RM40 and the matter will be discussed with the Ministry of Health first.
