‘Seniman’ refuted Fizz Fairuz’s statement that only 82 members are registered with SOCSO

KUALA LUMPUR: The Association of Malaysian Artists (Seniman) refuted actor Datuk Fizz Fairuz’s statement that they did nothing to help its members who faced accidents while working.

It follows an incident involving actress Fasha Sandha who was injured as a result of hitting the corner of a bed while filming a drama in Johor, recently.

According to the Secretary General of Artists, Hafiz Nafiah, on the other hand, various initiatives have been carried out by the association to defend the welfare of the artists under its patronage.

“Following the incident that happened to actress Fasha Sandha while filming in Johor Bahru yesterday, the Artists are aware of the issue.

“Seniman is grateful to Datuk Fizz Fairuz who gave a statement on his Instagram channel regarding this issue. He also gave the impression that Seniman has not done anything for Seniman members all this time.

“Seniman would like to inform him that so far there have been many initiatives and policies that Seniman has done for Seniman members. Unfortunately, it is possible that he himself has never been aware of what Seniman has done,” he explained, in a statement on Thursday.

The artist is grateful to Fizz Fairuz for raising the issue of the Social Security Organization (SORKSO).

“Nonetheless, Seniman thanked him for raising the issue regarding SOCSO and this issue went viral and gave room for Seniman members to know that Seniman has been working with SOCSO since 2020 officially.

“In this collaboration, Seniman was appointed as the sole agent for the arts and culture category since the negotiations between the two parties since 2019.

“From 2021 until the end of 2022 through Seniman data, only 82 Seniman members are registered under this SOCSO special scheme,” he added.

He added that since the collaboration was established, more than 10 Seniman members have received help and benefits from the Self Employed Social Security Scheme (SKSPS).

“The artist is also quite upset with the statement issued by Fizz Fairuz which is considered to be a rare piece without a proposal to check with the artist himself.

“It somewhat affects the credibility and image of Seniman due to the baseless statement. Seniman also hopes that with this incident more Seniman members will know about the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme initiative between Seniman and Sokeso.

“Hopefully, more Seniman members will come to register under this scheme at the Artist office,” he added.
Earlier, in sharing through his Instagram account, Fizz among others reacted to the incident faced by Fasha Sandha.
