Sean Roldan’s solo performance at M’sia this May 12th

Sean is one of the few Indian classical musicians who experimented with music outside their expertise.

KUALA LUMPUR: Musician from India, Raghavendra Raja Rao, better known by his stage name Sean Roldan, is now in Malaysia for his solo performance on May 12 at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Center.

Sean, who rose to fame in 2014 following the success of his theme song from the film “Vaayai Moodi Pesavum,” will perform with a group of musicians from India and the National Symphony Orchestra.

“This is the first large-scale solo concert for me. Previously I was here for a small performance in 2018 and I can’t wait to meet fans from Malaysia,” he told Bernama, here, yesterday.

In addition to the songs from the movie, Sean said he will also sing other songs he composed.

Asked about his collaboration with the National Symphony Orchestra, he said: “The practice session (with them) was an exciting experience, I can’t wait to perform with the Datuk Mus Quartet,” he said.

The music composer-turned-singer is among the few Indian classical musicians who have experimented with music outside their specialty.

Artis lain yang akan turut membuat persana pada concert anjuran Aakaar Foundation (Aakaar) itu ilah Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, Kalyani Nair, Sathyaprakash, Nithyasree, Manoj Krishna dan Adithya RK.

“This is Aakaar’s second collaboration with an Indian artist after Pradeep Kumar’s successful performance in 2022 in Kuala Lumpur and 2023 in Penang.

“We hope this concert will be a unique experience for Malaysian concertgoers,” said one of the founders of Aakaar, S Vinoth Kumar.

He said, Aakaar, who is currently planning several projects involving local and international artists, is also implementing efforts towards sustainability by reducing the use of plastic during concerts.
