Jan. 20, 2025 / LOS ANGELES—Scientology Network’s acclaimed Signature Performances series will debut the highly anticipated documentary Stanley Clarke: Forever on Sunday, January 19, at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.
The one-hour special offers an intimate portrait of Grammy Award-winning bassist, composer, and producer Stanley Clarke. The film celebrates Clarke’s legendary career while chronicling the creation of his new album, Last Train to Sanity. Joining Clarke in this musical journey is his newly formed band, 4EVER, composed of young virtuoso musicians.
Since revolutionizing the role of the bass in the 1970s, Clarke’s influence has spanned genres such as jazz, R&B, funk, pop, hip-hop, and rock. A pioneer in jazz fusion, Clarke has collaborated with iconic artists like Chick Corea, Paul McCartney, Aretha Franklin, Jeff Beck, and George Duke. Over his five-decade career, he has earned numerous accolades, including being named Rolling Stone’s first-ever “Jazzman of the Year” and receiving the prestigious National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters Fellowship in 2022.
The documentary features heartfelt tributes from acclaimed artists such as Marcus Miller and showcases Clarke’s mentorship of the 4EVER band members: drummer Jeremiah Collier, guitarist Colin Cook, saxophonist Emilio Modeste, and pianist Jahari Stampley. The film also highlights Clarke’s close friendship with Chick Corea, offering rare insights into their groundbreaking collaborations.
Last Train to Sanity presents a mix of new material and reimagined jazz fusion classics, with standout performances including a bass duet with Cameroonian musician Armand Sabal-Lecco and a reimagining of Clarke’s piece “Tradition” featuring pianist Ruslan Sirota. The album also includes a captivating duet with tabla virtuoso Salar Nader.
Driven by a belief that every artist holds unique potential, Clarke’s latest work embodies his passion for nurturing the next generation of musicians.
