Salamiah Hassan’s husband died
KUALA LUMPUR: The husband of veteran singer, Salamiah Hassan, Gerry Hughes died yesterday morning. This sad news was confirmed by Salamiah’s son who is also a famous singer, Atilia Haron through his Instagram page.
“Our family received the news of Gerry Hughes’ passing on Friday morning and mum is on her way to Tasmania, Australia.
“We hope everyone can give us time to mourn this surprising departure. Al-Fatihah,” wrote Atilia.
At this time, Atilia is unable to share the cause of her stepfather’s death and is still awaiting developments from her mother.
Salamiah, 71, and the late Hughes, who was 68 years old, were married on September 1.
The couple were married in a simple ceremony in Burnie, Tasmania, Australia at the residence of the late Hughes.
The two have known each other for the past 15 years.
Before that, Salamiah lived alone for 35 years after separating from her first husband, Raja Haron Raja Aziz in 1986.
Besides Atilia, Salamiah also has another child, Raja Ahmad Shah.
