Residents filed an application to challenge the state government’s decision, MB Selangor to demolish the Shah Alam Stadium

SHAH ALAM: A resident here, Datuk Ahmad Mua’Adzam Shah Ya’akob filed an application for judicial review permission to challenge the decision of the state government and Selangor Menteri Besar to demolish the Shah Alam Stadium and build a smaller scale stadium.

Ahmad Mua’Adzam, 48, as the applicant filed the application at the High Court here on Thursday through Messrs. Kamarudin & Partners naming the Shah Alam City Council Mayor, Selangor Menteri Besar and the Selangor government as the first to third respondents.

In the application, Ahmad Mua’Adzam requested a certiorari order to cancel the decision of the third respondent (Selangor government) dated 16 July 2022 and the decision dated 30 Sept 2022 implemented by the second respondent (Selangor Chief Minister) to demolish the Shah Alam Stadium and build a new stadium. small and develop the surrounding land.

The man also applied for a mandamus order that the respondents follow the regulations according to the Town and Country Planning Act 1976 before any decision is made regarding the stadium, especially a public notice by inviting any interested parties, especially nearby land owners to confirm the same have objected or agreed with the third respondent’s proposal.

In addition, Ahmad Mua’Adzam Shah also applied for a prohibition order under Rule 53, Rule 2(1) KM 2012 to be granted so that the Selangor government’s decision is temporarily suspended until the application is decided.

Meanwhile, lawyer Kamarudin Ahmad who represents Ahmad Mua’Adzam Shah, when contacted by Bernama said the application was filed at the court at about 11 this morning.
