Receiving an honorary degree, Taylor Swift now holds the title of Dr
NEW YORK: International popular singer Taylor Swift has indeed had various titles given to fans and the media, yet today she added another title – doctor (Dr).
Swift, 32, received an honorary doctorate of arts degree from New York University (NYU) on Wednesday, witnessed by thousands of spectators including ‘class of 22’ graduates at the crowded Yankee Stadium.
Appearing elegantly in a newly awarded honorary doctor’s gown, Swift had a chance to joke when she told the audience that she was there for having a song titled ’22’.
“I never had the experience of studying in college as usual. I went to public high school until grade 10 and then finished my education by finishing assignments at the airport terminal.
“I don’t feel at all qualified to tell you what to do. You’ve all sacrificed and learned and dreamed of what you got today.
“I’m not going to tell you what to do because no one likes it, but I’m going to give you a tip, what I did when I started making my dream a career.
“Never be ashamed to try,” Swift said in her speech.
The singer, composer, producer and director began his music career at the age of 15.
To date, her 100 million albums have been sold and won numerous awards, in addition to setting a record as the first female artist to win the Best Album category three times at the Grammy Awards.
