Raya music video: Aliff Syukri apologizes to those offended
CYBERJAYA: Cosmetics entrepreneur, Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman today testified for almost five hours at the Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) headquarters here regarding a music video clip in conjunction with Aidilfitri which is said to be controversial.
He, wearing a gray coat and black trousers, arrived at MCMC at 9.58am and left at 2.41pm.
Met by reporters after testifying, Aliff Syukri apologized to the community who were offended by the video and asked not to involve his family in the matter.
“Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly, thank you to MCMC for providing good treatment. I apologize to all the people who were offended by my song and video,” he said.
The Raya video clip showed a group of male dancers with make-up and gentle demeanor, triggering various reactions because it was said that it was not suitable for public viewing, especially during the month of Ramadan.
Yesterday, Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa was reported to have said that MCMC had given notice to individuals identified in the video to appear at the commission’s headquarters.
According to Annuar, MCMC’s preliminary examination found that there was a reason for the investigation to be carried out and following that, an investigation paper was opened under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
