Raya money for friends, ‘shark’ gets a reward

Raya money for friends, ‘shark’ gets a reward

CELEBRATION Hari Raya Aidilfitri enters its third day today and the excitement is still felt even though some of us have gradually returned from the village to go back to work.

As usual, social media became a field of lively evidence of the Aidilfitri celebration which was celebrated when each person uploaded a picture of the whole family, couple, waima #teamsingle dressed in the same style with their employer (pet cat).

Behind the display of baju raya through the social media stage, it seems that this year the walls of social media are also lively with the exhibition of QR codes.

Some QR codes are pink, some are black. Both are shared with two different purposes, namely giving raya money and asking for raya money.

That’s how fast technology is developing today when everything is at your fingertips. In fact, without writing any words, sharing the QR code already knows its meaning.

Many of the writer’s contacts also share the black QR code from e-wallet, an application that provides the Money Packet function to make it easier for users to send duit raya to contacts.

Similarly, famous individuals on social media who share the same QR code to be shared randomly, ‘who is fast, he gets’.

Some are successful, some are empty when the Money Packet has been redeemed in a very short time.

Despite the disappointment of acquaintances who failed to redeem duit raya, there are individuals who expressed their dismay after finding that duit raya was redeemed by unknown individuals, not even in the friends list of their social media accounts.

This is where the mistake is when unknowingly sharing QR codes on social media is like releasing fish in the ocean without restrictions.

The intention was to give it to fishermen in need but it was also attacked by hungry ‘sharks’.

Yes, in the sea of the internet these are ‘sharks’ or simply put, scammers are married, celebrating and living together.

Sharing QR codes without restrictions is like feeding the ‘sharks’. In the end, the intention to give charity to acquaintances was not fulfilled.

Not to mention sharing the pink QR code, which is the bank’s QR code that is shared with the purpose of asking for random raya money.

The action has caught the attention of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) which advises the public not to share personal bank QR codes widely on social media to avoid becoming victims of online fraud.

“Be careful when giving the QR code of a bank account for the purpose of receiving duit raya.

“The disclosure of account information on social media is not encouraged because it is feared that it will be misused by scammers through data phishing for the purpose of impersonation and financial fraud,” according to KPDN via a post on social media.

Perhaps today it seems trivial because of our trust in the guaranteed security of the internet banking system.
However, as long as it has not been affected, we will do it casually.

This is because many of the victims of scammers were confused about how they could become victims.

Times have changed, just one click can bring results.

In the meantime, the issue of asking for duit raya also caused a dispute because it is an act forbidden in Islam.

It had been brought up several years before and should have been celebrated in the celebration of Syawal, it was not done, let alone after a month of Ramadan full of blessings.
