Rathbone Guitars R6SB Parlour Model Review

Here’s Ben Morgan-Brown at our sister-site Acoustic Review looking at a Rathbone Guitars R6SB Parlour Model, featuring…

Solid Engelmann Spruce top,
Bocote back & sides,
24.4″ / 620mm scale length,
Bone (Nut 42mm) Saddle,
Mahogany neck,
Rosewood fingerboard & bridge,
Open-gear chrome machine heads,
Clear lacquer finish.

Rathbone Guitars say…“The No.6 exquisitely captures the spirit of Rathbone Guitars with its time-honoured short-scale Parlour design matched with visually captivating and great sounding tonewoods.

This beautiful-looking model combines a Solid Spruce top with highly figured Bocote wood for an eye-catching mix that responds similarly to maple instruments. It delivers excellent projection with wonderful clarity, whether stumming or fingerpicking.

No.6 models are the first series in the Rathbone Guitars range to feature slotted headstocks. This headstock design increases the angle at which strings cross over the nut, thus increasing the downward tension which gives strings – particularly open strings – greater tonal clarity and note articulation.

Furthermore, as smaller bodied Parlour shaped guitars like the No.6 have a naturally delicate voice, the slotted headstock design works in harmony with the 12th fret neck join to deliver all-important tonal warmth, punch and dynamics… so not only will your Rathbone No.6 radiate a traditional Troubadour aesthetic, it’ll sound fantastic too!”
