Kuala Lumpur, 17 August 2022 – Indonesia’s current biggest hip hop export, RAMENGVRL, will shake up the stage at The Bee in Publika, Kuala Lumpur on 19 August confirms Warner Music Malaysia.
The award-winning Hip-Hop artist, who hails from the bustling city of Jakarta, has garnered global recognition with her signature hard-hitting bars, undeniably unique style and revered live performances. Since RAMENGVRL first emerged in 2018, her songs have clocked up tens of millions of streams, catching the attention of global culture tastemakers including VICE, NME, MTV, Hypebeast, Billboard and she’s performed on the stages of festivals such as We The Fest, Asian Sound Syndicate and FLAVS. In 2022 she headlined her own Indonesian tour, opened for EarthGang (USA), is set to join the lineup of KV Fest (alongside Korean-superstar Jessi) and FLAVS, with many more dates to be announced.
This will mark RAMENGVRL’s first ever show in the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur post-pandemic.
Official Venue The Bee in Publika spokesperson, Rahul Kukreja who’s responsible for many iconic local and international shows held at the venue expressed that this will be a rare concert by RAMENGVRL in an intimate setting, giving music fans a chance to get personal to one of Asia’s brightest creative mind. “Her skill and talent is undeniable. Backed up with certified early hits such as her breakthrough singles ‘CASHMERE’, ‘I Am Me’ and ‘I’m Da Man’, RAMENGVRL’s recent catalogue also includes ‘FACTS’ and ‘Ain’t No MF’ featuring Korea’s Ph-1. The melodic sounds ‘Onto The Next’ and her official remix of JVKE’s viral hit ‘This Is What Love Feels Like’ further cements her versatility; and with each release she continues to push the boundaries, display her vast musical range and prove she’s got both global and regional appeal”. Rahul also confirmed that the show will witness opening acts by four of the country’s best new generation live acts such as rapper ChronicalZ, Lost Spaces -an indie synth pop musical project, Nakalness – frontman and vocalist of the JB based hip-hop/rap group Forceparkbois; and and Luqman Podolski – rapper, singer and visual artist.
As a sign of her immense impact, in 2021 Forbes named RAMENGVRL among Indonesia’s 30 under 30 (2021), she’s won four AMI Awards (The Indonesian Equivalent of A Grammy) including the title of Rap/Hip Hop Song Of The Year (2018, 2019, 2021) and Urban Collaboration Of The Year (2021). Recently she was also inducted into Spotify’s Global ‘EQUAL’ campaign and her music has been featured on the soundtrack of EA’s Need For Speed and on Netflix’s Hip-Hop series ‘Rhythm + Flow’.
She released her debut album titled ‘Can’t Speak English’ via iconic US Hip-Hop Distribution platform EMPIRE (Snoop Dogg, XXXTentacion) that included the award winning single ‘Vaselina’ and fan-favorite ‘Look At Me Now’. In 2021, RAMENGVRL was spotted by Warner Music and has since inked a global deal with the major worldwide label as the debut artist on their newly minted pan-asian Hip-Hop imprint, Asiatic. “I am super excited to be performing in Kuala Lumpur for the first time for my debut international tour under my own brand called ‘Going Noodles’.
