Ramah Tamah UNITI Kaamatan Program, Gawai strengthens national integration
SERI KEMBANGAN: The Ministry of National Unity (KPN) in collaboration with the Peninsular Borneo Children’s Association (ABS) for the first time organized the UNITI Kaamatan and Gawai Hospitality Program which took place here, from 23 to 25 June.
Its Minister, Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique said, the program coincided with the agenda of Semarak UNITI Keluarga Malaysia as well as providing opportunities to communities throughout the country, especially in the Peninsula to appreciate the ethnic and cultural diversity of Sabah and Sarawak.
“This celebration can be held in the Peninsula which aims to provide exposure to the community in the Peninsula related to the culture of Sabah and Sarawak.
“The festive Tadau Kaamatan and Hari Gawai celebrations that we celebrate today are symbolic of the spirit of UNITI which aims to foster the spirit of togetherness and belonging in accepting the cultural diversity of the Malaysian Family which is the backbone to the sustainability of harmony and prosperity we have today,” she said.
She said this at the Opening Ceremony of the UNITI Kaamatan and Gawai Hospitality Program, at The Mines 2, Seri Kembangan, on Saturday.
In the meantime, Halimah also expressed the hope that such a program can be a site to strengthen the bonds of unity and the spirit of national integration among the Malaysian Family as a whole.
“Through various events that depict the cultural and ethnic harmony of the Sabah and Sarawak communities for three days, the UNITI Kaamatan and Gawai Hospitality Program this time is expected to further nurture the sites of integration among the entire Malaysian Family community,” she added.
