Queen Elizabeth II dies: Thank you Britain, the world for the message – King Charles
LONDON: King Charles III thanked the people of Britain and the whole world for all the speeches given after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
A state funeral for Queen Elizabeth II will be held at Westminster Abbey in London on Monday.
It ended 10 days of solemn ceremonies and mourning in which hundreds of thousands of people paid their respects to the king who died at the age of 96 and had been on the throne for seven decades.
In a statement, King Charles said that he and his wife were touched by the many messages of condolence and support received from the people of Britain and around the world.
His Majesty was also moved by all the people who took the trouble to come and pay tribute to his mother’s lifelong service.
After the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin will be taken to Windsor where she will later be buried with her husband Prince Philip.
That will end Britain’s period of national mourning, although royal mourning will continue for another seven days.
