Qatar is the latest country to impose restrictions on Chinese tourists
The test applies to all travelers regardless of vaccination status.
DOHA: Starting Tuesday, Qatar will require tourists arriving from China to show negative COVID-19 test results taken within 48 hours of departure, the country’s Ministry of Public Health said on Monday.
The test is imposed on all travelers regardless of vaccination status, the ministry added.
It is a temporary measure as China is currently experiencing a wave of COVID-19.
Several other countries that have also tightened entry rules for tourists from China include Australia, Canada, Japan, Italy, Spain and Morocco.
Some countries are reported to be intensifying the monitoring and implementation of border controls for individuals coming from China.
