Pulp’s Return Takes Center Stage as Jarvis Cocker Debuts ‘Spike Island’ on Jonathan Ross

After years out of the spotlight, Pulp made a triumphant television return with a performance of ‘Spike Island’ on The Jonathan Ross Show. The track is the lead single from their highly anticipated new album More, scheduled for release on June 6 via Rough Trade.

During his appearance, Jarvis Cocker not only performed but also shared personal stories—including how he proposed to his wife in the middle of a traffic jam. Reflecting on his journey in both music and fashion, he credited his early style to rummaging through jumble sale bins and learning what worked by public reaction.

Musically, ‘Spike Island’ serves as a nostalgic ode to the influential Stone Roses gig in Cheshire, which, despite never attending, Cocker constructed through accounts from those who were there. The song—and the upcoming album—echo Pulp’s signature storytelling with added depth and reflection.

Dedicated to the late Steve Mackey, More marks a poignant chapter for the band. Their return includes an 11-track album and a full tour across the UK and Europe, signaling a bold new era for one of Britain’s most enduring acts.
