GEORGE TOWN: The Penang government is organizing the ‘From Governor to TYT’ exhibition which highlights the stages of administration and development in the state since 1705 to educate the public to learn the history of the institution of the state governor.

Chief Minister, Chow Kon Yeow said, through the exhibition, information leaflets about the history of the Penang governor’s institution can be shared with all levels of the local and international community.

“This exhibition can not only provide considerable benefits to all the citizens of Penang but also citizens of other states to get to know more about this institution,” he said.

He said this to reporters after the opening ceremony of the exhibition by the President of Penang, Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak at Dewan Sri Pinang, here, today.

Chow said that the exhibition can also encourage the involvement of various agencies, government institutions and the private sector in building a network of conducive relationships, thereby providing exposure to the history of the institution and the functions of the governor or TYT (Tuan Yang Tsanglu) in Penang to the local and international community.

“I hope this exhibition will be a platform in achieving the goal of educating the public to better appreciate and learn the history of Penang by learning about the merits, roles and lineage of the appointment of the governor and TYT of this state,” he said.

He said that the exhibition which started yesterday will also tour four districts in the state in stages until next May involving the Penang State Public Library for the Central Seberang Perai district, the Bertam Branch Public Library (Seberang Perai North), the Jawi Branch Public Library (Seberang Perai South) and ends at the Balik Pulau Branch Public Library (Southwest).
