SEREMBAN: The defense lawyer for the celebrity preacher, Azman Syah Alias or PU Azman is considering making a representation to the Attorney General’s Office (AGC), regarding the five charges against his client.
His lawyer, Mohamad Zahid Ahmad said, his side needs to examine the documents submitted by the prosecution first, before sending a representation regarding five charges of physical sexual abuse against two teenage boys.
“We will submit a representation to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for consideration, among our intentions to review this case, if there is the best consideration to withdraw it we will try to send the letter.
“We follow the legal process, if there are charges we will go and we will fight according to the existing process. All the documents that the prosecution will use for the trial, that’s what we received today,” he said.
He said this when met at the Seremban Court grounds on Thursday.
Previously, PU Azman last October pleaded not guilty in the Seremban Sessions Court to five charges of sexually assaulting two underage boys, in February and July last.
In the proceedings before Judge Datin Surita Budin, Mohamad Zahid had previously requested a period of one and a half months to examine the documents, before the renaming of the case was determined.
The prosecution represented by Deputy Public Prosecutor, Hafizah Zainul Hashimi had previously informed that two documents were ready to be submitted to the defense today.
Yesterday, PU Azman, 41, was also brought before the Klang Court, on four charges of sexual crimes involving three teenage boys between February and last August.
He was charged in the Sessions Court with two charges of physical sexual assault against a 17-year-old boy at a homestay in Kampung Sungai Udang, Klang, at 12.15 midnight and 1 am on February 20 and June 29, respectively.
PU Azman was also charged with one charge of encouraging another 17-year-old boy by communicating sexually through the WhatsApp application around 4pm to 7.30pm at a house in Kampung Meru on 16 August last.
Meanwhile, at the Magistrate’s Court, Azman Syah was charged with another charge of committing extreme obscenity against another 19-year-old boy at a house in Jalan Sungai Bertek, here at 9.15pm on 10 June.
