Prince Harry, Elton John sues Daily Mail

LONDON: Prince Harry, singer Elton John and several other influential individuals have filed a legal suit against the publisher of the Daily Mail newspaper over alleged privacy violations.

Other individuals taking part in the suit against the Daily Mail include actresses Elizabeth Hurley and Sadie Frost, the husband of singer Elton John who is also a film producer, David Furnish, and Doreen Lawrence, the mother of black teenager Stephen Lawrence who was killed in a racist attack on in 1993.

The representative of the law firm, Hamlins, added that all the individuals had “very sad” evidence thus revealing that they were victims of a breach of privacy by the Daily Mail newspaper.

Violations include placing listening devices in cars and homes, live harassment, intruding on private phone calls, hiring police officers for sensitive information and impersonating close individuals to obtain medical records.

In the meantime, they are now united to uphold the truth and ask journalists to be fully responsible since most of them still hold important positions to this day.

Law firm Hamlins .represents Prince Harry and Frost while Lawrence, Hurley, John and Furnish are represented by law firm Gunnercooke.

Meanwhile, the associate publishers of the Daily Mail, The Mail newspaper every Sunday and The Mail Online , which is the news newspaper with the highest readership in the world, denied the allegations.

“The allegation is completely absurd and slanderous and is seen as an attempt to drag the headlines of our newspaper into the issue of the phone hacking scandal of the past 30 years.

“The claim is completely baseless and very defamatory because there is no reliable evidence. It seems that it is just a fishing expedition by the party claiming which part to pursue the claim case elsewhere,” said a spokesman for the Daily Mail publisher .
