Power Rangers star Jason David Frank has died
NEW YORK: Jason David Frank, who played Green Power Rangers character Tommy Oliver in the 1990s TV series ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ has died aged 49.
Frank’s manager, Justine Hunt in a statement on Sunday confirmed the matter but did not reveal the cause of death.
Among the first to express his condolences was Walter Emmanuel Jones who played the role of the Black Power Rangers.
“I am very saddened by the loss of another special member of our family,” he said in the latest post on his personal Instagram account.
Thuy Trang, who played the role of the Yellow Power Rangers died in a road accident in 2001 when she was 27 years old.
‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ is a TV series about five teenagers who are assigned to save the earth from evil.
It first aired on Fox in 1993 and became a pop culture phenomenon.
At the beginning of the broadcast, Frank’s character Tommy Oliver was seen as a villain influenced by Rita Repulsa.
But soon he was absorbed into the youth group as the Green Power Rangers and became one of the most popular characters in the TV series.
Frank later became the White Power Rangers and the leader of the group.
