PM pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, signs condolence book
KUALA LUMPUR: The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today visited the Official Residence of the British High Commissioner here and expressed his condolences on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
Ismail Sabri also signed a condolence book in honor of Queen Elizabeth II, 96, who died on Sept 8.
Earlier, the Prime Minister’s arrival at 3.55pm at the premises was greeted by the British High Commissioner to Malaysia, Charles Hay and Deputy Foreign Minister, Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar.
He spent about 30 minutes at the British High Commissioner’s Official Residence.
Queen Elizabeth II, is the longest reigning monarch in British history and second longest in the world after King Louis XIV of France.
Meanwhile, Hay said he was touched by the condolences from Ismail Sabri and the outpouring of love and respect shown by Malaysians from all walks of life.
“It is a joy to receive such support in Malaysia while the United Kingdom (UK) mourns His Majesty’s death,” he said.
According to media reports, Queen Elizabeth II’s body is now in London and placed at Buckingham Palace for the state funeral at Westminster Abbey on 19 September.
The body of Queen Elizabeth II will be buried next to the tomb of her husband, the late Prince Philip.
