Photo of the Week: Capturing a moment of glory – Alif Omar
Our Vibes photographer shares the technique behind capturing a moment of glory
THIS photo was taken during the Malaysia Open at Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil earlier this month, as Thai female player Ratchanok Intanon, who was ranked 8th in the world at the time, just won her second Malaysia Open title.
The photography skill on display here is slow shutter panning that shows the movement of the subject like a spirit. It took me 10 tries to get this image just right because it was the first time I tried to take a picture like this in such a setting.
The main difficulty I experienced was the timing to press the shutter, the lens must be in line with the player’s movement to get this kind of shot.
