Pekida lodged a police report against the owner of a comedy club, following an infectious video believed to insult Islam, Malays
JOHOR BAHRU: The Islamic Welfare Organization and Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Pekida) Johor Bahru has asked the police to investigate the actions of a comedy club owner who allegedly issued insulting statements against Islam and Malays, through several infectious videos on social media.
Its chairman Tazul Arifin Nasri said the man’s action in issuing such a statement was seen as disparaging Islam and the Malay race.
“I have seen a video on the TikTok application that has been spread to WhatsApp as well as a news report on a portal that displayed videos and statements mixed with insults against Malays, bumiputeras and Muslims by an individual.
“He used the stage platform at the comedy club and used insults and curses against Islam, the Malays and Bumiputeras as an insult, to make a presentation to the guests of the club,” he said at a press conference attended by more than 20 Pekida members in front of Ibu. Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Office (JBS), here today.
He said his party had lodged a police report to enable an investigation to be carried out on the individual.
At the same time, Tazul said Malaysia was a country with a plural society and racial harmony must always be maintained.
Recently, several video recordings believed to show the man performing a comedy show at a comedy club, spread on social media and got various reactions from netizens.
Meanwhile, JBS District Police Chief ACP Raub Selamat when contacted confirmed receiving the police report and explained that it would be referred to Bukit Aman.
