
P. Pinang is ready to obey the instructions of the Ministry of Health regarding the entry of Chinese tourists
The daily average of COVID-19 cases in Penang is only around 40 to 50 cases compared to the last few months which recorded more than 100.
GEORGE TOWN: The latest situation of COVID-19 infection in Penang currently shows a downward trend of up to 50 percent compared to the past few months, said Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
He said based on the daily reports received recently, the average daily case in Penang is only around 40 to 50 cases compared to the last few months which recorded a figure of over 100.
Referring to the procedure for the entry of tourists from China into the country, he said the state government will comply and obey the government’s instructions in an effort to curb the spread of the epidemic.
Speaking to reporters here today, Chow said the state government is ready to implement the protocols set by the Central Government and the Ministry of Health (MoH) regarding the entry of tourists from the country in question to Penang.
“Everything is subject to orders from the Central Government and the Ministry of Health, if there is any protocol that needs to be followed, we will comply. So far there are no direct flights from China to Penang since they have been stopped since the COVID-19 pandemic hit,” he told reporters. here today.
Some media previously reported that China will reopen its borders on Jan 8 after being closed for almost three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ministry of Health, in a statement today, said it is ready to change the policy related to health care management of the COVID-19 pandemic at the existing national borders, including tightening the standard operating procedures (SOP) of checks at the country’s entrance if necessary, not only for visitors from China, even those arrive from any country though.
