Our talent is wasted, injured at our own expense – Edika Yusof

ACTOR Edika Yusof is upset with the attitude of a few directors and television stations who like to judge an artist’s ability based solely on age.

According to Edika, an actor should be judged through his true ability to succeed in a role in a drama or film.

“In my opinion, a director or any TV media should not judge an actor as old or slow and unfit to play an important role in a work because their age has increased.

“Because if the physical condition is still strong and can perform there is no reason to be sidelined. Our talent is wasted, some can still perform as before,” he wrote in a post on Instagram.

In the meantime, the actor of the drama “Project: High Council” also revealed about the scenario of the local acting industry that wants some actors to do their own stunts without thinking about the risk of injury.

“For films like in Bollywood or Hollywood, stunt actors will be prepared for extreme stunts for fear that an injured actor will interfere with filming.

“Here again, usually if the actor does a tough scene, it’s bad luck to get injured and we have to take responsibility ourselves.

” His name is Kamikaze . It happened to me once. Insurance doesn’t cover it.

“Even the name is acting, so tough actions must be acted to look tough. Not for real tough.

“If you really want to make it real , two solid punches in the face will give the actor a concussion .

“The stunt choreographer himself has to be smart in order to realize the wishes of the work,” he said again.

In fact, Edika also touched on the issue of disproportionate payment when involving old actors.

“Why here, the value of an aging artist is looked down upon. Offer payment as low as possible because the budget has burst , forced to pay high to young leading .

“The longer the experience, the higher the salary, but in the film industry in Malaysia, the opposite is true.

“So to be honest in Malaysia we need to change our mindset to further develop this industry.

“There has to be collaboration between the old and the new working together. Every actor, whether new or old, has their own fans,” he commented.

Meanwhile, Edika also called on the directors to always be professional with the actors even when faced with problems.

“Our film industry is small. So be professional among us in the industry. Face to face and discuss it well. Be a gentleman/gentlewoman .

“When you love everything is beautiful. That time when everything is rotten smells good, You can accept it as it is.

” Excited to propose, you can meet face to face. If you don’t want to, you can always slow talk nicely and discuss problems.

“Look for a good solution, a win-win situation . just cool ,” he concluded.

Just for information, Edika started her acting career in 1989 through the drama Pelumba Malam.

In fact, this Pakistani-born actor has also starred in several popular films including Maria Mariana, Awas and XX Ray.
