Oscar: Once again the Academy rejects the emergence of the President of Ukraine

FOR the second time, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Academy) did not allow the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy to make an appearance at the Academy Awards ceremony to be held on March 12 in Los Angeles.

Zelenskyy, who was a comedian before becoming a politician, made virtual appearances at the Cannes and Venice Film Festivals last year and also at the Grammy awards.

In fact, he was also given a standing ovation during his virtual appearance at the opening gala event of the Berlin Film Festival recently.

“Films can overcome borders, whether in reality or ideology. Today, Russia wants to build a wall, between civilization and tyranny,” he said in his speech.

Earlier, WME’s agent Mike Simpson asked the Academy to allow Zelenskyy to make a virtual appearance but it was rejected. The Academy also refused to comment further on the matter.

It repeated the same script last year where Zelenskyy’s request to appear was also rejected.

The 95th Academy Awards will take place this Sunday and will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
