Oscar: Jimmy Kimmel attracts attention, establish ‘crisis team’ to avoids being slapped
HOST of the 95th Academy Awards, Jimmy Kimmel kicked off this year’s prestigious event by introducing some unofficial members of the “crisis team” to avoid any unexpected action.
Kimmel was referring to the incident of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock during his opening monologue at last year’s Academy Awards.
In a joking tone, Kimmel said that if the audience ‘does violence’, they will be awarded the Oscar for best actor and allowed to give a 19-minute speech.
Smith won the Best Actor award for his role in “King Richard” last year, shortly after he slapped Rock for making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
“If something unexpected happens, just do what you did last year… do nothing,” Kimmel said.
He then named a number of ‘crisis team’ celebrities, including Michael B Jordan and Michelle Yeoh.
Also named to the team were Pedro Pascal, Andrew Garfield, and Steven Spielberg.
“There’s not going to be any nonsense tonight. There’s no chance to do anything weird here,” Kimmel said.
