Only 2,450 visitors were allowed to attend the Citrawarna Keluarga Malaysia Gala Night – Nancy
SIMUNJAN: Only 2,450 visitors are allowed to attend the gala night of the Citrawarna Keluarga Malaysia Program on Feb 26 on the banks of the Kuching River, said Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
He said seeing the latest developments in the increasing COVID-19 infection situation around the world, his party together with the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) had drawn up strict standard operating procedures (SOP) for visitors to the program.
“Among them, we have increased the number of canopies from one to seven. Each canopy will accommodate 350 people and every movement in and out of the canopy will be controlled by law enforcement to comply with the limit on the number of visitors present,” he said.
He said this when met after visiting the Batang Sadong Parliament’s Malaysian Family Sales Program (PJKM) at the Dewan Mesra Simunjan car park, here, about 85 kilometers from Kuching city, today.
PJKM which was held for two days starting today provided an opportunity for more than 40,000 locals to also enjoy the opportunity to buy daily necessities offered at prices up to 20 percent cheaper than usual.
On the Citrawarna Keluarga Malaysia Program, Nancy said the Cultural Diversity Festival themed program would enliven a colorful fiesta with a variety of tourism programs and activities as well as Malaysian arts and culture performances, and it was expected to be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said the implementation of the Citrawarna Keluarga Malaysia Program was also a benchmark for the implementation of future MOTAC programs through the new norm method.
“Indeed, when we hold the event now, there will be a ‘fear factor’ in the community regarding the spread of infection. I myself am also worried, but due to economic factors and other industry players who depend on the event, it should continue,” he said. he said.
Apart from the gala night on Saturday, several other events organized to enliven the Citrawarna Keluarga Malaysia Program which lasted for four days starting this Thursday are Sarawak craft festival, Sape concert, Sarawak drum festival, Malaysian textile craft fashion show, ‘food bazaar’ and performances fireworks and a musical fountain show.
